The quality of the products of the sea and the excellent service offered by our local restaurateurs has made Sant Carles de la Ràpita the gastronomic capital of the Terres de l’Ebre. The king prawn is one of its best known and most appreciated products. They make an excellent ingredient in a large number of dishes, although thanks to their quality they can be used in one of the simplest and most traditional recipes – king prawns grilled in coarse-grain salt. Els Alfacs Bay is also one of the largest mussel and oyster producing areas in Catalonia. Here you can taste molluscs seasoned with sauce, à la marinière, breaded or au gratin –all flavours and textures that will stimulate your palate. Today, taking advantage of the legacy of their marine gastronomic tradition, the town’s main restaurateurs and producers have come together in the La Ràpita–Ebro Delta Cuisine Collective,which distinguishes itself by offering a quality, close-at-hand service rooted in the cuisine of the territory.
